Incorporate a simple slideshow

Good morning.

I need to build a website with on the index page a simple slideshow ( looping) pretty much as you can see here:
http://www.babssfeer.be/
I am a dummy with flash so I don’t see how this can be done?

Any tips?

There are a couple of different ways I can see doing it.

First, look at the manual, look at the Softpress tutorial movies, and search through the forum, there are already a bunch of discussions on achieving this without flash.

You can use the Sequence Timer and Target/Show Image Actions.

You can create a carousel with the Carousel Action.

You can purchase a flash banner program like BannerZest (www.aquafadas.com) or SlideShowPro and drop it into the page very easily.

Spend some time learning first and you should be able to figure it out. If you get stuck, ask some specific questions and people will be able to help.

Good luck.

Adding to George’s comment, and if you are using FW Pro, you can use
Sequence Timer with the Target Show/Hide Layer, which allows you to
fade between images, rather than the push-pull type slide show, where
Carousel is you starting point.

I also recommend SWF’nSlide Pro for easy Flash type slide shows and if
you want animated text as well there is Text-Osterone, both from
Vertical Moon.

Tale a look here: http://www.verticalmoon.com

They have a few other useful goodies, too.

You didn’t say what version of Freeway you are using, but if you have FW5, Softpress’s target show/hide layer action works well if you need to do a simple slideshow without using Flash. Have a look at the tutorial on: http://www.softpress.com/products/scriptaculous.php

There are numerous otherways to produce what you want… an alternative you could try the Mootools Action Suite. Its not free… but there are a number of extra features that make it worth the money. have a look and see if its closer to what you need: http://www.coastalrugs.com/Actions/fadingslideshow.html

It’s worth noting that the Mootools Action doesn’t work on the same page as Scriptaculous effects so as long as you avoid putting the two together you shouldn’t have a problem.

Hope that helps
