My index.html page needs to be loose in my site’s “public_html” folder, but I don’t want the entire rest of my site to be there too. I’d rather put everything else into a subfolder called something like “pages,” and let the index.html file link to stuff in there.
Can I do that? And how?
Or should I put everything in that folder and somehow redirect the index.html page that’s loose in my public folder to the real index.html page in the new subfolder? Or am I missing something even easier?
Thanks.

If you’ve allowed Freeway to use its normal conventions, then it will
automatically put your index page loose in the root folder, with
everything else in folders as necessary. You shouldn’t need to do
anything.

It’s smarter than I am.
Thanks, Paul.

Hi Jon
If you create a site in Freeway then the normal setup is that all the pages are created on the same level and whatever you have set in File>Document Setup>Upload under Directory is where these pages will be uploaded to on your server.
If you create your first page (which is called index.html by default) and then click on the cog wheel at the bottom of your site panel (left side of screen) - one of the options is: New Folder If you do this you will get a dialogue box that will ask you to name this folder. Type in ‘pages’ click OK and this folder is created.
With this folder selected in the site panel selecting Page>New Pages will create new pages within the Folder ‘pages’ - remember that the first page created by FW in a folder in this way will automatically be named ‘index.html’ (You can change its Title and file name if you like)
Pages can be dragged between Folders in the site panel to get the structure that you want.
I am curious as why you wish to have your index page at a different level from the rest though.
