Hi chaps, have maybe found a new house and my wife would like me to draw a layout - I’m sure I can go a bit further than that and found a neat little programme called ‘Sweet Home 3D’ - pretty easy to use and it got me wondering, can any of you recommend any other similar bits of software ? Free would be good but I wouldn’t mind shelling out a small amount - thanks for your time Roger
How about Google Sketchup? - It might look like it creates exterior 3D
models, but I’ve used this to plan exhibition layouts for a clients
(i.e. interior layouts), and even a kitchen layout and its Free.

I also use Sketchup. It doesn't have a steep learning curve, but it
is a long one. I’m always trying to figure out how to do something
on it.
It does make impressive drawings, however. I make drawings of
entire buildings, one board at a time. This takes a bit of time but
saves me time in the long run. I find design mistakes when building
in pixels rather than building in wood. It also makes it easy to
show the plan to others.
