Internet Explorer hides navigation menu

Please have a look to http://siebenbruecken.eu/filmfrankfurt.html.
I made this site for a customer. When you visit the site with a Mac (Safari oder Firefox) everything is OK. but when you use IE under Windows, the navigation menu is BEHIND the film. This ist he same problem with all films on this site.
Has anybody an idea for the reason?
Thank you!!

This is a problem common to all plugin-based content. While it is sometimes possible to use CSS z-index (layer order) to place other content over the top of your movie, many plugins reserve the entire z-index stack to themselves, effectively cutting a hole through your site from z:1,000,000 through z:-1,000,000 the size of your content. The only real solution is to either place the other content into your plugin format (Flash or QuickTime) or to redesign to avoid the overlap. This result will vary by browser version, plugin version, and operating system. Often a very minor point version will make or break this.

This is not the same problem at all. In your case the CSS menu sub menus aren’t showing in IE

I would suggest that you send your FW document in to support(at)softpress.com - or at least a cut down version. If the file is large then use one of the file sending services like http://www.yousendit.com/

I just tried this from (virtual machine) Win XP with the default IE and it looked fine.

Please read through my answer earlier today. This is not something that Softpress or anyone can fix for you. There are combinations of content, plugin, OS, and browser that exhibit this problem. The correct solution is for your IE users to download Firefox or Chrome, but that’s not a truly reasonable answer. If you really need to cater to these IE users (if they are a significant percentage of your total visitors) then the right way to fix this is to redesign so the plugin content is further from the menu.

Probably - the person who complained couldn’t tell me what version of IE she had. She said it’s fine all Firefox, Chrome, etc.

Difficult to say, in fact impossible to say what versions the visitors are using. How would I redesign it? Do you have a link to follow from FW Knowledge base?

Trouble is that mostly likely it’s older versions of IE. I could say more about their lack of of knowledge of their own PC, but restrain!

Move the movie or other plugin content so that it is outside of the area that the menu drop-down will occupy when it’s clicked. You may also experiment with shorter (fewer options) menus.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll see what I can do about the slides, but can’t do anything about the length of the drop downs - that what the owner wants.
