Is it common practice for large companies (Fortune 100/500) to ask potential design contractors/agencies for copies of tax returns when submitting a RFP?
NO! They may pull a D&B report on you, but they will not ask you about your tax returns. They may want an I9 or W4, depending on how they plan to pay you, but I have never heard of a company of any size asking for your tax returns.

Sorry for the late reply-- it has been a hectic day.
IF you are rfp-ing a government entity or something similar, they have been known in my experience to ask for some weird bullshit-- unless you’re into that kind of stuff. Otherwise, I am in agreement with Walter… anyone who is not the IRS and wants your tax documents should get Nothing. No Soup for Them.
