How can you detect if your css and html markup is any good and can be fixed ?
Problem with the bullet points, fine when viewed with Firefox but with Safari and Chrome the top item on the left sub navigation flicks to the right and stays there.
This is a cms created navigation.
The
is stripped out with chrome and safari. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Anyway, I’m greatly indebted for pinpointing the cause here. I needed to set all three inline divs that make up this side column to float: none, clear: none. I had two set to float: left.
I was so intent at looking at the navigation creation as being the problem rather than stepping back and ‘THINKING’ what else could be the source of the problem.
All resolved now and updated; I was going to add until the next problem but its (been) sunny today so - lesson learn’t and onward.
Think I really do need to get a book and more of a grip on coding etc., tried looking at various things on the net and not getting anywhere but somehow an actually book might be best for me.
There are many good books and Dan Cedarholm has a couple aimed at CSS. Also this one, http://pragprog.com/book/bhh5/html5-and-css3, available for 40% off with the code “turkey”.

Thanks Todd, I’ll look into that. And Dan Cedarholm has been mentioned I’m sure before on list.
This has definitely made me think that I need to do something. I’ve tried to follow various websites on ‘How too’s’ but something in hand by the fire, glass of whisky:-) might sink in more or at least be more easily accessible if and when needed for reference. I’ve too many things bookmarked to refer back to a particular website each time.
I know what you mean about a physical book, I’m not a fan of reading from a computer when I’m trying to learn. It feels fractured and counter-productive.
