JavaScriptAlert/Site issues

Every page (78) on my site has two java script alerts before preview. When I click ok and it previews, it seems fine. In checking, I can’t find where these errors are. I can’t preview in browser or upload it because I have to cancel the alert twice for each page.

It’s now published with the CSS menus from 5.1 which will not work with IExplorer, so I’m anxious to get it uploaded with 5.1.2. I’m using Pro version on PPC G5 iMac.

Also, my site name is wrong. I had to work from some back ups and copies, and I can’t get the site folder to just say “Site.” It refuses to change from the temporary name I gave it. It is the only glitch I can figure.

How can I locate what the java error is?

Can’t help with the javascript errors but:

my site name is wrong

Create a new folder in finder called whateveryouwant site - put it where you want it to be on your HD.

File>Document Setup>Document and then using the “Select” button half way down choose your new site “whateveryouwant site”

OK the necessary dialogues and then when you next publish all HTML pages will go in your new site folder.

Thank you David, that worked without even needing to republish. Good thing, too, since I really can’t republish with out clicking OK 156 times…

Are all your pages based on the same Master?

If so I suspect that there is something on that Master that is causing your problem.

Create a new page from the Master with no content added apart from what is on the Master.

Preview and every time you get an error delete an item from the page and try again.

There is probably an action on the page that has an unspecified parameter so start by deleting them first.

This process of elimination should find your problem.

I did try that, but I now think it was the site file name that may have been the culprit–it had a symbol and numbers. I renamed the site as you described, closed freeway, opened it, and lo and behold, no java script errors! Here is the newly uploaded version;

I’ve asked a couple of people to check the drop down menus on Explorer for me, and am waiting replies.
Wished I’d asked for advice about a week ago…

These alerts could be my doing with the Mootools Suite. My apologies if they are.

Typically, my alerts would pop up if FW’s temp folder (_FileName folder) was deleted. This may also happen on new documents that are previewed/published before they are saved properly. Although routines are in place to try to handle these missing files ‘automatically’.

If they persist/reappear, please contact me and I will see if they are my fault and how I can help prevent them from returning.

I don’t think so, I tried removing the slide show and it didn’t stop
the scripts at all. When did get the file named changed, (thank you
David) the script stopped. No idea why. My graphic header was also
spawning errors quite often but not globally.
