Hi I’d like to add an announcement [only] list to a music site I manage,
ideally it would have a facility to allow people to subscribe and
unsubscribe themselves, but not to post to the list.
On the server I have MailMan, and I wonder if I should pursue this route or
to have to start thinking about setting-up something in php/MySQL.
Or then again think about something else?
Best wishes Peter

There’s a way to configure a Mailman list to be announce-only. Define
a number of moderator accounts, and they will be able to post, while
everyone else will be rejected automatically.
Have a read through the Mailman admin manual. You configure everything
through the Web for that, so it should be pretty well documented.

Thanks Walter,
I had a scan through the manual and was pretty sure it could be done but
could not work out what settings to choose.
With your info abobe I should now be able to set it up.
Cheers
Best wishes Peter
