Keep taking the tablets

I’m trying to make my web sites fit an iPad screen width; i.e. no extraneous space around the page, so that it fits nicely, even returning to fit when squeezed.

I understand that Inline design is best and I am moving toward this method of design.

However, I managed it (almost accidentally) with this site and it isn’t even Inline:

I tried to do it (and succeeded) with this site but I don’t know why:

But this Inline site continues to fail on IPad regardless of what settings I choose:

Hi John,

am not sure if I did enough investigation but I guess that the third approach requires a different mobile setting (3rd inspectors’ tab) to “device-width”.

The two approaches above have nothing to do with inline (which is the reason that they work, probably).

Cheers

Thomas

Clarification:

The second one is also an Inline design and the Viewport width is set to Automatic.

The third, also Inline, is the same. But I’ve tried Device-width with no success.

I have now determined that the reason one of those site fitted an iPad and the other wouldn’t was the CSS Menu. Don’t sake me what settings were different—but needless to say I have reused the working one.

Will investigate.

The reason why my web site didn’t fit the iPad width was that the CSS Menu had a sub-menu that opened to the right further than the page width.
