I have some layered links on my website and they don’t work in explorer. The links are layered so that they can be fixed in the window.
I can click around on explorer 5 but I don’t get the pointer hand when I drag over the links and my client says the links don’t work on his explorer at all.

This is getting extremely frustrating!!!
I don’t think the fixed in window effect is supported by IE5. That
particular effect is supported by “proper” browsers, such as Safari,
Camino, Firefox, Opera and IE6 and above.
You don’t say whether that’s the Mac version or the PC version or
IE5. In either case, IE5 is about as dead as a browser can be. Even
IE6 is becoming rarer (thankfully).
If you’re using the Mac version of IE for testing, I would suggest
you don’t really bother any more. It’s no longer supported by
Microsoft, and Apple haven’t shipped it with the OS for some years.
I generally use Firefox to test my sites these days. I do have access
to a couple of PCs as well, just to check things don’t break too
horribly in later versions of IE/Windows.

Also, it doesn’t help you know at all how any Windows version of IE
will be have. They had the same names, but that’s where the
similarity ended.
IE for Mac is dead, buried, decomposed, and even the daisies it
pushed up have seeded and regrown. The only good it can do now is by
releasing a bit of disk space when you delete it.
Internet Explorer 6 is as problematic as Internet Explorer 5, so what I’ve done is include a box on my home page that says, “This site runs best on Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer 7. If you’re using Internet Explorer 6, click here to download the newer Internet Explorer 7.”
It seems like the easiest way to fix some of the problems associated with Internet Explorer 5 or 6.
Thank you, Jamie. I’ll wait and see what I find out from my client.
I made a few changes to the way the website functions and I think I’ve sorted out the problem. If anyone else would like to test the link in various Internet Explorers, follow this link:
