Let me simplify this

The page and window backgrounds are fine—the page color goes all the way down to the bottom of the window.

When I add a HTNL text box nothing changes.

But as soon as I add a certain amount of text to the box—not overflowing—the page background shortens and does not reach the bottom of the window.

I am assuming that this relates to your other thread

Overflow text/RPL/Page background

The only real way you are going to get a sensible diagnosis of this is if we can see a live online example with a breakdown of what we should be seeing and not.

And what version of FW you are using - but we can often work that out from the underlying code if we can see it.

Okay here goes:

Using Freeway 6.0 and selecting different page and window backgrounds. The problem is that applying RPL shortens the page background. There is a footer pinned to the bottom of the window at 0px.

On this page the is NO RPL and everything looks fine at the bottom:
http://www.bermudasupply.com/masontest/no-rpl.html

On this page RPL is applied and the page BG shortens at the bottom:
http://www.bermudasupply.com/masontest/rpl-1.html

By way of testing, this page is identical with many of the items removed and the page BG is okay again:
http://www.bermudasupply.com/masontest/rpl-2.html

But when I add just a couple of item, the BG is thrown off again a little at the bottom:
http://www.bermudasupply.com/masontest/rpl-3.html

What’s happening? I think I have uploaded long pages on other sites with this problem, such as here:
http://www.valleyforgepizza.com/testimonials.html

Many thanks.

Hi John,

Try applying the Auto Clearfix Action to the page and checking the option “Apply to all unfloated elements”. This fix will be included in the RPL Action by default so any sites you make in the future won’t need to go through the same process.

Hope this helps,

Joe

Can’t help you about the footer I’m afraid but should just say that the sandstone background image on your valley forge site is over 500kb and takes an age to load - needs to be a fraction of this.

Sorry, Joe, the Clearfix Action didn’t cure the problem.

[Thanks, Noel, for the tip about the BG size]

Tentatively: I think the problem is solved by having the Master at least as long as the longest page.
