Line heights won't change

Hi there,

I’m using Intaglio on OS X Mavericks. It’s updated recently via the App store to version 3.5a.

The line heights on my Intaglio files have all changed. I’ve tried playing around with the line height and paragraph spacing values but they don’t seem to pay much attention to many decimal values. Some values work while lots of others seem to default to smaller or larger spacing sizes. For example, try setting the line spacing to 1 and then to 0.5 and then increment back up to 1 and your changes will have no impact for many values between 1 and 0.5.

Previously my files were designed for having a spacing of 0.83 however this is now no longer possible.

Any suggestions on what’s going on or solutions?

Cheers,

Patrick.

This aspect of OSX’ text handling is poor. Classic DTP and graphics programs are much better at leading and letter spacing.

A possible workaround: if you type 0.83 in the Baseline menu field, the line spacing increases, presumably by that amount. It’s not proper leading, but the effect is the same. I’m not sure what 0.83 means—it’s probably a percentage of normal leading.

As you say, the Leading controls are limited to full numbers—you can’t enter decimals, but you can in the Baseline menu!
