Hi Tom,
Not directly as far as I know. What is it you are trying to do exactly?

Typically if you want a user to add an event to their calendar you can offer them an iCalendar formatted file (.ics) to download. The file which is supported by a wide range of calendar apps should get opened by whichever installed application is set to handle these requests. If no helper app is defined for the file type then it will just get downloaded.

For example you can save a single event or whole calendar from iCal as an .ics file and if you link to this file in your web page it should open back up in iCal (or similar) on the user’s machine and offer to add the event to their calendar.

Here’s a very quick and simple example that will give you the option to add a monthly event to your calendar;

Regards,
Tim.

Tim, let’s say, we have a limited offer. A headline says “order until July 31.” This headline is linked to open ical/outlook. Actually like a “mailto” link which opens Mail.

Exactly what I need, but don’t understand what I need to do! You mention a tutorial but I can’t find one anywhere. Nor, Tim, can I find a suitable action on your website…

Would live a pointer please, as I have a job I have to deliver on Monday.

Many thanks, David

David,

I think what you’re doing here is just linking some text to the .ics file (which I’m sure you can export from iCal).

OK, panic over, piece of cake - once I discovered the action “Download icon”, present by default in Freeway 4, has been renamed “Graphic Link to File” in version 5.5 - after creating the site in 4, then re-opening in 5.5

It worked perfectly, so all is well…

Thanks Caleb, yes I just dragged the event off my calendar to the desktop, then referenced it with the action “Graphic Link to File”. It works fine in Safari, just hope it will IE and Outlook.

Many thanks for your reply. David
