Linking to a New Window

I’ve attempted to use the Hyperlink dialog for some HTML text from the Edit menu to create an External Link to a New Window, but the pulldown options for the Target won’t let me select “_blank” (or anything else for that matter.

The Softpress KnowledgeBase suggests I’m doing everything correctly. It also lists two other actions, Link to New Window and Text Link to New Window, which I can’t find anywhere.

What am I looking past and/or where can I find these other actions?

Change the HTML Level from a Strict to a Transitional DOCTYPE. Strict
does not include or permit the target attribute, since that decision
to open a new window is the user’s prerogative, not the designer’s.
There are JavaScript tricks you can use to work around this
limitation, but it’s meant in all kindness to guide you to a better
design solution rather than to allow you to break the back button and
destroy the user’s browsing flow.

Okay.

Am I correct in assuming that if I change this setting for a single page (in the Page Inspector), it doesn’t affect the rest of the document?

That’s right. Everything about the Inspector is contextual – whatever
(item, page, whatever) is currently selected will be modified, but
nothing else will. One other point about this: if you go into the
Document Setup dialog, and change the page width or height there, the
changes will only affect new pages that you make after that – it
won’t retroactively change any of the existing pages.
