list item images

Good afternoon,

I have a bit of a problem

I am using the action: list item images for a website I am doing.

I made red dots in PSD. and am using that file.

I can see the red dots in Safari but in FF or in IE they are not seen.

The background of the site is black - so I need to have them be seen.

ANy suggestions?

thank you

Julie

Are you trying to use them as psd files?

If so then change them to jpegs or pngs

No processing in FW when used like this so most browsers don’t know what to do with a psd

I am. when I tried the jpeg and png I got the white border around them… unsure how to fix that so I went to the psd.
in PSD I am making a circle - filling it in with the color then transparent background - then trimming - export.

any suggestions on the white border?

You will need to set your anti-alias in Photoshop before exporting - anti-alias against whatever your page background is.

Stupid question of the day… how do you do that?

also should I save for web instead of save as?

JPEG doesn’t have an anti-alias option, but GIF does. And GIF is
probably the simplest format for this layout (PNG-24 would also work,
but only for browsers other than IE, except for IE 8 or 9). You do
have to use Save for Web to access this option, I believe it’s called
Matte in that dialog.

Yes - if you use Save for Web there is an option in there about no of colours, anti-alias etc.

Don’t have access to PS at the mo to check exactly what it says.

Thank you! That worked.

I saw no anti alis options but the matte. and set it for black.

I am using PSD CS5.

Good - forgot that PS called it matte - but is basically the same as FW’s anti-alias setting.

And remember in FW sometimes you have to over-ride the Auto setting, especially when using over a graduated background or over a continous tone image.
