Looking for definitive thread on Mal's E-Commerce Setup

Hi All,

Poked around and read numerous thread’s on integrating Mal’s E-Commerce into Freeway and was wondering if there was a definitive thread for beginners with tips/hints/instructions on how to integrate it into Freeway. I assume it will work with Freeway Express version 5.0.

All the threads I’ve seen so far after searching had to do with specific problems and issues. I’m really starting out at the beginning and was hoping for a general overview post or instructional thread on how to implement the action(s).

Thank you in advance,

Ron

from the Softpress site:

“Actions and Freeway Express
Freeway Express ships with the same set of Actions as Freeway Pro. However, you cannot add new Actions to your collection unless they have been specially encoded. If you want to use Actions that are not encoded or develop your own Actions, you will need Freeway Pro.”

The best place for examples and the action to integrate Mal’s is Tim Plumbs site
www.freewayactions.com

The examples there tell you how to do it, but no go for Freeway Express.

Freeway Express comes with the Freeway Shop Actions, which are a simplified form of Tim’s Mals Actions. There is a complete manual and tutorials and everything on the Softpress site.

Hello Walt. You’re right. I keep forgetting about that because I use the other all the time for the added functionality.

Thank you both. Looks like I will be upgrading to Pro I guess.

I’m still new to actions anyway, so I’m not yet sure what the difference between actions and simplified actions would be anyway.

Besides, I need the basic functionality to be able to define specific color values which I cannot do in Express for some reason. At times, Express seems like ‘crippleware.’

Cheers,

Ron

Pay Volkswagen prices for Volkswagen performance - pay a bit extra if you want to drive a Porsche

Touche… Actually if it ran like a Volkswagen, I wouldn’t have a problem. At times it’s more like a Yugo. But I get your point…you get what you pay for. It’s just that I probably won’t use 90% of the features that Pro has… at least not for a while.

Invest for the future. You may not see the reward today but it is very likely that the upgrade cost in the future will be greater and there will be a lot of time savers in there - and how do you value your time? A few hours saved soon adds up.

Yes, it’s true. I’ll be upgrading, if for no other reason than the amount of support, tutorials and addons available cater to the Pro version that much more. Besides, Freeway is so much easier than having to deal with Dreamweaver or other layout programs I’ve tried.

So Dreamweaver is a layout program now?
