Yes - got an email about this today.

After early promise from these guys I have been unimpressed with the rate of progress from Macaw through Indigo and now on to Scarlet.

No doubt I will revisit this once Scarlet appears.

It has always had promise - just slow to deliver.

I’m of the same feeling as Dave – I don’t think Macaw ever lived up to their promises they made during the Kickstarter. The concept of the product is great, but it’s too buggy and the engine is too finicky for me. Personally, I’d rather be writing the CSS by hand than be fighting with a program, so I really haven’t used it much. Hopefully, they’ll be able to deliver on Scarlet!

Totally agree with Dave and Caleb… I trust they will do the right thing and offer a steep discount to the early adopters that got flimflammed by the initial hype. I do not think I will give them any more money unless there is a trial version to play with first.

A quote from the intro page:

“…WYSIWYG editors are clunky, out of date and produce notoriously unusable code…”

Really?

Is it any wonder that software marketed to people who do not care about code would produce code that looks as though it’s not cared for?

Fortunately Scarlet (or ScareIt  is built for people that care about code, cause you can use it with limited knowledge of HTML and CSS (Trying to avoid the word “only”). And the page example is only (huups) to do by a fundamental knowledge of HTML, CSS and JS.

Currently, I’m running a combination where I’m not unhappy with it (cause Freeway is great, allowing me to do):

  1. Freeway (full HTML- and Content-Control)
  2. CSS-Editor (Brackets)
  3. CodeKit (Concatenate and AutoPrefix )

By this - I’m happy to announce that whatever happens - I won’t need another WYSIWYG-Editor anymore. Which doesn’t mean (listen Towers) that I don’t expect some innovations anymore.

Cheers

Thomas
