If you save as a PDF and open it in Preview, the layers, opacity and vector shapes are preserved, but you can’t select the individual layers.
When the same image is opened in Pixelmator, the vector shapes and transparency are preserved, but the whole image is flattened.
Thanks for stopping by.
While I was doing the add work for a client who participates to Apple`s upcoming app-store we´re in the need to deliver layered PSD files. He told me if Nick uses the ImageIO framework PSD files will come out flattened - so “no go” here with Intaglio - what a bummer.
I might have stumbled across a clunky workaround to this problem.
I occasionally use Pixelmator (which is similar to Photoshop) and Photoshop 3, a pre OSX version that works with Sheepshaver.
• In the Intaglio illustration, copy layer 1.
• Switch to Pixelmator and paste. Repeat the procedure for each Intaglio layer. Pixelmator places the pasted content on a new layer). Each layer can be moved, so the Intaglio layout can be recreated in Pixelmator.
• Export the document as a Photoshop PSD file.
• Switch to Photoshop and open the Pixelmator file. Apart from a slight change of colour, the images were identical and each layer could be accessed and modified.
