We will be performing major maintenance on the FreewayTalk site on
Wednesday, 24th October 2007 from approximately 2pm GMT. During
this time, you will be unable to access the web site and we cannot
guarantee that any e-mails sent will make it to the list.

This work will involve moving from the current phpBB interface to
our new list system. As part of this, all user account passwords
will have to be reset. Further instructions and a temporary
password will be sent out to all users in due course.

We apologise for any inconvenienced caused, and hope you’ll like
the changes we have in store.

Are you able to log in now?

Hi Walter,

yes it is all sorted and I like the new system but then I normally
only look at it via email so it is good to have people names back. I
logged in and it remembers me in Safari every time I look at the forum.

Hi Walte,

I say it is working OK but actually my reply never came through to my email address even though it appeared here in the forum. Any ideas?

I received it by email. Perhaps you need to edit your account settings
to activate the email option.

My account settings are set to get emails, yours came through no
problem as do entries I have made via the forum site. It just
appears to be when I reply by email, my usual method, that I do not
get a copy of my own entry. I probably wont see this one!

Could your email client be filtering your own posts to the wrong place?
I have to retrieve mine from the ‘sent’ folder. (I need to tweak my
filters but just haven’t got around to it.)

You got it Roger,

I am using googlemail which I access form Apple Mail on my computer
and it seems to be keeping any messages that I send and not
forwarding them to me. I guess this is a result of this now being an
email list rather than a forum as such. I have told my freeway smart
folder to include sent messages and the thread makes sense again.

thanks

Don’t forget that this is still a web forum as well, just one
that’s run as a member of the mailing list rather than the list being
a member of the forum.

If you log in to the web view you can make new threads and reply to
existing ones without having to step across to your email client.

Walter and Finlay are working to make the web part of this as
effective as it can be while keeping the email side of things robust.
