Making a site start from a subdirectory

I have a site for my son: http://dt360.co.uk

He has taken over the website and put the new site in a subfolder /wp

I have put a redirect in the form of an edited index.php file which
redirected to the /wp folder.

He is now complaining after you leave the /wp/index.php file the site
shows in the /wp branch like this

http://www.dt360.co.uk/wp/work

He wants to give people links for neatness without the wp:

http://www.dt360.co.uk/work

I use a standard cpanel at Have Host, there appear to be a number of
ways to make this work.

Any advice gratefully accepted.

Best wishes Peter

The easiest way to manage this is to change the root folder for the site from /htdocs (or whatever that folder is actually named) to /htdocs/wp. This will be done at the cPanel end of things, and it should take effect immediately. Note that this will then completely ignore anything above the /wp subfolder level. If you had a file at /htdocs/index.html, it would no longer be possible to see that file at all.
