Mal's e-commerce connection problem

Does this file need to be in the main directory? I think this is
where Mals in looking for it.

yes - . mailsetting.cfg file exists in the resources folder on the
server, the same as all the other html page files.

On my server I have a ’ wwwroot’, a data folder and a logs folder. Sorry, in the main wwwrrot folder there is all the html files, as well as the mailsetting.cfg, then there is a resources folder and then a css folder.

Still not playing ball!!

I think you are going to have to ask Mal.

stupid question! it says that the configuration file (cfg) is from my ‘e-shop settings’ action

is the ‘user ID’ required the same as my username given to me when I first opened a mal’s account?

not sure what other settings it could use!

Yes! When you opened the account you were given a user/pass

The action doesn’t ask for the pass.

Did you enable the link verification on Mals and put the code into the action.

If you didn’t enable on Mals then it doesn’t matter but if you did then it needs to be in the action settings.

yes to all counts!

one last simple question - I’ve been doing this too long today! How do I log onto mal’s forum!! I keep getting ‘You need to be logged into your My Account @ mals-e.com to post to the User Forums. If this is your first visit click here to register’. I have been sent a password - but don’t know where it goes - supposed to me ‘my account’ but where. Doing this too long today - brain fried. I will get out your hair! thanks again

Once you are signed into your account use the Forum link in the Grey bar at the top of the screen.

Sorry for asking another question! when I use the forum link I just get ‘You need to be logged into your My Account @ mals-e.com to post to the User Forums. If this is your first visit click here to register.’ at the top. If I click on this it takes me to create a new my account. It then emails me a password. Where do you go next (idiots guide please)?

many thanks again

Me again!!

I have spoken to my web host and he says the problem lies with the .cfg file - normally only valuable info is contained within these files and would not normally be able to be seen easily. He hosts a shared windows server and would be unable to show these files as everyone else’s would also be seen. Is it possible to rename his as a txt file or html file as it only contains settings? Changing my web host is not an option!

You are going to have to find a different host, or a different cart. Your client needs to make a business decision here, and when you mention that finding another cart will cost XXX thousand (insert your currency here), I’m sure that decision will be to move hosts. Your current host’s answer tells me volumes about the way the server is configured, and I would be scared to host any sort of dynamic site there.

Unfortunately there is no way for us (Softpress) to change the cfg file, Mals has been configured to look specifically for that file type and that can’t be changed, sorry.

Another option that wouldn’t require shifting servers would be to use Tim Plumb’s Mals Actions that can be found here:

Nearly happy days now!! I can now go one stage further but get stuck on ‘link verification failed’ No problem, I’m sure. I would just like to thank all of those in the wonderful freeway community - esp deltadave who talked me thru a very long night!

BTW, my host ‘sorted out a few settings’ to get the .cfg file to work. I know, judging by the forums, that this can be an issue. So it may have nothing to do with imputting wrong details but you need to speak to your host provider. Such a little tiny file can cause so much heartache. God bless freeway.

but get stuck on ‘link verification failed’

Remember that is an Option - it does help to make your cart tamperproof but it sounds like the hosting server has deeper problems anyway!
