Hi Justin,
The Freeway Shop Actions are bundled in both Freeway 5 and 6 - you should be able to find them in the Actions menu starting with “E-Buy…”.
Check out the documentation here starting on page 403; http://download.softpress.com/downloads/FW5Reference_2010_screen.pdf#403
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Justin,
The two Action sets do essentially the same sort of thing but differ in how they do it and the scope of what they do. The main driver for me when I created the Mals Suite was to make a set of Actions as comprehensive as I could to allow Freeway users to easily add a shopping cart to their sites. The Actions cover everything from single ‘buy now’ type links and buttons right up to quite complex forms that allow you to add multiple products and variations.
Softpress based their Freeway Shop Actions on my original Action set and took a different approach. Overall their Actions are easier to use because they focus much more on the lower to middle functionality but stop short of allowing you to create tricky or complex buy forms. If you just want to add ‘buy now’ buttons or products with a single variation then the Freeway Shop Actions will probably do what you want.
You should also know that there isn’t an easy migration route between the two Action sets as, internally, they work in almost completely different ways. If you start a site with one Action set and then decide to move to the other then you’ll need to relink the new Actions to the items on the page. You can, of course, mix and match them if you wanted so if you only needed a complex form on one page then you can create this using the Mals Suite knowing it will interface perfectly with the rest of the Mals shopping cart.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Tim.

Thanks peeps - so whats the difference between the Actions that I can buy and the inbuilt Actions?
I purchased Tim’s Mals actions several years ago. Now I always use them, even for the simple stuff. The reason is, if the client comes back later and wants to add more variations to their products, the action will be ready for that upgrade with a few short clicks. I think the site that required me to upgrade was http://www.twoguysfourhands.com . The clothing sales required multiple selections of color and size and price. I couldn’t have done it without Tim’s action. But, I also used them on this much simpler shopping cart site: http://www.flowersongherbals.com/index.html . Again, multiple buying options from a single product line.
Hope these examples help. I’m sure his actions can do even fancier stuff than this!
Hi Justin,
I’ve tested the Mals Actions against Freeway 6 and I’ve yet to find anything that isn’t working as expected. I would have also expected to have heard from users if they had spotted anything broken too.
