Does any know if you can create a membership area with mals-e - I have a client who needs this - i.e they can sign into the store and then get discounts because they are a store member?

Justin, this is usually achieved with a wholesale account in other shopping carts. I have looked at this before on Mals and I think you will have to have 2 carts or use coupon codes for the discounts.
