Mark Up Item Not Showing

wow! been a long time since i posted to this forum. surprised my log-in still works and you folks are still here.

i maintain a few sites using FWP 5.5. recently realized that my music page on my main site was blank. it was created with code from CD Baby and inserted as a Mark Up item. i thought maybe CD Baby changed their coding but i’ve tried entering the current code for a music store and it’s still not showing.

does anyone have thoughts as to why this is happening? I’m using a mac with OS 10.12.5 but an OS conflict wouldn’t explain why the store disappeared in the first place. i don’t think i’ve changed anything on this site since september of last year. any insight would be appreciated.

This widget code is there, but it’s trying to load Flash content in 2017. If you were to take this site back in time, say 10 years ago, before the iPhone, you might have better luck viewing it then. But here and now, it is becoming genuinely rare to find a browser, either desktop or mobile, that has the Flash plug-in installed or enabled by default.

One other issue, your surrounding page is http and the flash code is coming from https (secure). Modern browsers consider that a security breach and will restrict your content as well.

Waltd -

so are you saying the code i copied from CD Baby uses flash and is not going to work in most browsers? is there a workaround you could suggest?

their widget was an easy way to set up a store. look like i may have a bit of work cut out for me.

You may want to check back with them, and see if they have a more contemporary solution available. I doubt sincerely they are anchored in the past like this. CDBaby are a highly-respected and forward looking bunch. If you have been using them for a long time, you may just have picked up this snippet at a time before the whole Web turned its back on Flash.

sadly then, they haven’t updated the code. i have already gone in and copied the current code they are making available and it’s not working. maybe i’ll contact CD Baby’s Member Customer Service and see if anyone has brought this issue to them. i sure hope this isn’t a roundabout ploy to get folks to use their in-house hosting service.
