menu like Facebook slide out

Hi all

Most of us now the Facebook slide out action (http://www.freewayactions.com/test/facebook-slideout-panel/). Now I wan’t to do something similar with my own menu but I don’t now where to start or how to do it. Any suggestions?

Can we see what you have - can you do a mock up to give us an idea where you want to go with this.

Or an example you want to emulate.

There are many ways to do this - some use pure CSS, some javascript. The route you take might also depend on the Browser capabilities of your target audience.

I saw it somewhere ……… But can’t find it.

I try to explain: a tab like “button” like the Facebook slide out panel. When you click/mouse over it it shows a menu like home/contact/more/about and so on.

I hope you understand what I mean.

Something like a mobile menu? A hamburger (or whatever) for a button that activates the actual menu? You could easily manage that via the CSS Menus action.

I hope you understand what I mean.

I do but as I said before - you have to consider your target audience and how you are going to support them.

ie if all/most are using up-to-date browsers you could go for a pure CSS solution.

If not then you are likely to need javascript.

Does this menu need to be extendable - or is it just one level with no sub menus.

There are many Menu Generator apps out there like http://css3menu.com/ - you might find what you want in one of them.
