Missing Message

Just an F.Y.I.

I replied to the OffTopic post from Ernie ‘Opacity Attribute’ via Apple Mail and while it appears in the Web view (forum) it was not delivered to me via email. I’m getting posts from other people as expected so I’m not sure where mine went. Could just be me.

I’ve noticed a few of these myself. The fact that they show up on the Web means that the mail was sent – Mailist is just another subscriber to the list, so nothing shows up on the Web that wasn’t delivered as mail.

But your ISP may have done what mine does. In order to stop spam, they send a WAIT message back on nearly every message that they receive. A genuine mail server will react by waiting a random amount of time, then re-sending the message. A spambot running on some poor infected PC will not. This has done wonders for my spam statistics, but made me occasionally very anxious when a client calls to ask, “Didn’t you get my e-mail?”
