Mojave

I’ve installed Mojave on my MacBook Pro (2015) but only have Freeway Pro on my desktop. Can I instal FWP on 2 separate Macs to test in Mojave?

Yes - that’s fine.

You might not be able to run Freeway on two computers simultaneously, but it should be OK otherwise.

Hi Jeremy, do you mean that, despite the automated warning, FWP should be able to work as expected, with no issues, with Mojave? Have you tested it already?

Thanks

If by “the automated warning,” you mean the one that macOS gives you the first time you run it about it being 32-bit, that warning only means, “for a future version of macOS, this app will no longer run.” Whenever Apple puts out that 64-bit only version of macOS, all 32-bit apps will stop working. You can find more details here.

To the original question, my preliminary testing of Freeway 7 shows it working on Mojave, though I didn’t push it hard. I simply created a document, played around with it a few minutes, checked the output, etc.

Hello Joe,

Indeed, that is what I meant and I am well aware about it. Thank you! And thank you so much for sharing your experience, albeit preliminary, it is a good sign.

Jeremy has not provided us with a rough estimate of when a 64-bit FWP will be ready, but Softpress has a year until OS 10.15, when all 32-bit apps won’t work. So I hope that Jeremy can share with us if their plan is to have it ready before Sept 2019.

I have no doubt that Softpress plan or want to have the new 64-bit version of Freeway Pro ready for macOS 10.15 in Fall 2019, but I think this version of Freeway is so far from being done that they don’t want to even hint at a date yet publicly. Maybe it will only be in beta testing by that point, or maybe beta testing will start this winter or even this fall*, but in either case, it’s probably too far of an horizon for them to say yet.

Indeed, it is understandable. Yet I hope he will give us an idea of where they stand on developing the new FWP by the start of next year.

In the meantime, I am going to wait a couple of months to make sure Mojave and FWP get along before I upgrade.

Thanks!

Thanks. I may install on my MBP and see what impact it may have (I’m always cautious).

A note to those in the post-Mojave 64-bit panic: there is no requirement to update your Mac’s OS on the day of release. If you are that concerned, look into virtualising your current Mac install, and put any software you can’t live without on that virtual machine.

Thanks for sharing your experience Paul. It’s encouraging. I will be updating to Mojave in a month or so, unless, some FWP community members find problems that most of us may also encounter.

Thank you for sharing jordan. Question: What Mac are you using with Mojav,e and does it have a Fusion or a SSD?

Thanks,

Álvaro
