Hello again everyone,
I’ve just done a search for blogs on this site and it’s come up with a few suggestions, but is there a definitive (and easy) solution for one to be integrated into a Freeway site and updateable by a client on a pc?
What kind of blog are you looking for? Are you looking for a real, honest-to-goodness blog, or a client-updatable site?
Both pMachine and ExpressionEngine are or can be used as blogs as well as Content Management Systems. Just note that pMachine is no longer supported. EE has different levels of pricing depending on what you will use it for. You can find out more information about them at my Actions site. Feel free to ask me, too.
There have been people who have used sNews and other products (Wordpress?). Hopefully they will pop in and give you answers.
Basically I’ve done a website for an otter and wildlife sanctuary and it’s just something that the owner can update every day or week as an ongoing thing where people can also see his past entries.
At the moment he’s searched on Google and started up one of their free blogs, which is fine and I’m inserting a link to it on their website, but I reckon it would be more professional if it was used within their site template.

If the sanctuary is a non-profit or non-commercial, you can use the Free (Core) or $99 (Personal) versions of EE, depending on your needs. See this page for the feature comparison.
You could do things like tie in the blog to the home page, where the titles to the latest entries can be linked to the actual entries. You could also provide an RSS feed, and even use EE to make parts of the site client-updateable as well.
I have just launched a site for my church based on the EE core system
using Joe’s EE action and once you get your head around how EE works
and how to add the tags in it is actually quite straight forward.
The only downside of the core unit is that the support is more
limited on the forums but if you search for long enough you can
usually find the answers. I am sure there are a few more bells and
whistle I could add to the site but so far so good.

Oh, this is a great help to us underachievers who just pose one
simple little question…(shuffles into a corner and cries while
trying to make head or tail of Expression Engine)

Yes, a steady stream of this will be trickling in, we’ll be swamped
Sorry Trevor, I’ll go to the naughty step…
Cheers

Don’t worry, it’ll die down soon. I can’t think of any more …

I think at first, it might seem overwhelming. But once you “get” EE, when the light goes off, you’ll be amazed and even excited with what you can do with it.
My recommendation is that you download the free Core version and play with it. There are some tutorials online at the EE docs http://expressionengine.com/docs/ and some video tutorials if that’s what you prefer. That should get you going.
Many thanks everyone, I’ll wade into the documentation and see if I
can find out what to do with 3 text files, 3 php files and 3 folders!
And then I’ll have a look at WebYep after the tears have dried up.
