I think I know the answer to this but I’ve had a tentative enquiry from a potential client about including instant messaging as an add on to cms. Is this beyond webyep? I assume, from reading various articles, it would need expressionengine or the like? Any suggestions anyone?
Sorry Keith, my terminology’s at fault. I guess what I was meant was not instant messaging but a sort of mini forum. Like this is, but it would only be available to the client’s clients.
There are hundreds of scripts for this on HotScripts and other code-
aggregating sites. Code like this will take a bit of work to integrate
with your site, particularly if you want it to appear to be a seamless
part of your page. There are also some “mash-up” systems like Disqus
that allow you to embed a comment system with a few lines of
JavaScript. If you handle the “client-only” part separately, Disqus
could be a good and simple fit.

So that wasn’t such a stoopid question after all? Yay! I must be learning something. Thanks for the help Walter - maybe Disqus could be incorporated into the site further on down the road…
