MP3 player help & recommendations

Hi, kind of off topic, I guess, but can you go to the link below and see if this little flash MP3 player works for you, and why do you think it’s not working for some people? I’ve been having people test it and apparently it won’t load the playlist for some Windows/IE users. UGH!

Also, maybe I should just bail on this player and go with something else. Any recommendations? I’m an audio engineer not a web designer–obviously. Thanks. Took me forever to get this thing working and now it’s not really working.

Thank you very much.

I may have gotten it fixed, I’m not sure yet. Can anyone with Windows/IE check it out for me please? I’d really appreciate it. I just need a yes, it’s working or no, it’s not working.

I’m thinking about switching to this player: E-Phonic - VST plugins - Software synthesizers and effects

I just don’t know if I’m capable of getting it to work or not. I read the online instructions but my skills in FW Pro are very limited.

Thank you.

Okay, so I’m trying to use the E-phonics player but I don’t get how to put it into Freeway.

Here are part of the instructions:

1.) In the head of the page we include the SWFObject script:

Question 1: Would I do that under Page > HTML Markup > Before Head or After Head or what? I have no idea. Is using Page > HTML Markup even the right thing to use for this?

2.) If you want to use the Javascript API to control the player you should also include the ep_player.js script:

Question 2: What does that mean? Since I don’t even know what API means I think I’ll stay away from that.

3.) In the body of the page we include the MP3 Player code: First we set the alternative content for people who don’t have javascript turned on or have an old Flash Player.

To use the E-Phonic MP3 Player you will need Adobe Flash Player 9 or better and a Javascript enabled browser.

Question 3: How do I put that in, just with an HTML item?

4.) Now we set the Flash Movie and its parameters.

Question 4: Same question–What do I use to put that in? Also, it seems to me that 3 needs to be behind 4 so if people don’t have Javascript enabled or the Flash player they will see the alternative content in place of the player, so does one sit on top of the other?

Really, I’m very confused. If someone wants to help me with this via email, I’ll pay you $50 through Paypal or with a credit card if you accept them. You can get an extra stocking stuffer for someone for Christnmas. If it takes a long time I’ll pay you more. I just want to get his done.

One of my testers said the other player is now working on Windows with IE. I may have fixed it. I’m not 100% sure yet. I can’t get a hold of any of my other testers right now.

Thank you.

Your 2 javascript references should be included before end head

Before </head>

You will also need to upload these files to your server using maybe ‘Upload stuff’ action set as with HTML or via an FTP app.

The flashcontent div can be added via Insert>Markup and paste the code into the dialogue box - position and size to where you want this to appear.

The same with the flashmovie script

There are quite a few associated files that you have to get up there as well such as ep_player.swf, skin.xml and playlist.xml and you have to make sure that the paths to these files is correct in the code ie skins/nobius_blue/skin.xml

Dave,

After much battling with it I finally got it to work. I even was able to change the skin colors. IN the end, though, I ended up not liking this player on this page. It’s a cool player and I’ll use it on some other pages, but I like the other player better for this page.

I think I finally got the other player working correctly, too. At least some people who have Windows with IE said it was playing and I know it works on Macs. I think why it wasn’t working before was the playlist was saved as a TextEdit document and PCs couldn’t read it. Once I saved it with a different text editor it started working.

Thanks so much for the help. I never would have figured out the E-phonic player on my own.

Best regards
