multiple mp3's on one page

Hi does anyone know how to have multiple mp3’s on the same page so that they all don’t play at once when the page loads?

thanks

I used the audio.js action from http://actionsforge.com/actions/view/245-audiojs on this page MBonline | The Music Box online - home which features four audio files and all wait to be clicked to play.

As a side note I also wanted to use Walter’s ScriptyAccordion on this page but had to revert to the older sfx:accordion as the former didn’t recognise tables or distinguish between divs.

All the best

You can also select your mp3 file container in FW and use Item>Extended and under the Embed Tag add the new name/value pair of autoplay:false

thanks David and Gordon,

the client wants the tracks to be downloadable as well is there any way to do this in either system?

If the file is an MP3, you can simply use Link to File to make a link to it. Depending on the browser, this will either be a straight download like any other non-handled file, or will open alone in a window (most Mac browsers). If you truly want to force a download, you can zip the file first, or try one of the many force-download solutions out there (not 100% reliable, zip always works).

Hi David,

under the extended menu should the name be:

Embed

and the value be:

autoplay:false

mp3 just keeps playing at the moment.

cheers

is it at all possible to have a link so that the mp3s play in a pop-up player - similar to this site

Sure. I would use Spawn New Window for this. Just make a little player page with the MP3 on it in a player widget, then your “play” button is just a control to open that daughter window (or CSS layer in iPad compatibility mode).

what’s the difference between ‘spawn new window’ and ‘link to new window’?

Not much. But SNW includes the mobile-friendly iPad mode, and it also provides much more precise control over the “spawned” window if you use that mode.
