My freeway file will not open in freeway

I have a freeway site that I have worked upon that will not now open. I had saved and closed the job and re-opened a couple of days later trying to add new updates.

The back up will let me open but that is actually backed up six days earlier and so missing a lot of information (is there anyway to make more recent backups??)

Is there a way I can get back into my original file without having to re-do a lot of already done work??

thanks Ian

When you say the file won’t open, do you get a message from Freeway? If you do, what does the message say?

No, no message. It acts as if its going to open but nothing actually happens?

In that case Ian, have you tried opening any other Freeway files? Just to narrow it down if it’s a File or Programme problem?

No, definitely a file problem, others will open ok. Making it all the more frustrating!

Hi Ian,

Backups are saved each time the file successfully opens. We do this because we know if a file is able to be opened it can’t be corrupt. If we were to save backups at regular intervals there’s a possibility that we could be saving something that is unknowingly corrupt, making it useless.

If you send your file into support(a)softpress.com we can take a look and see if it’s salvageable. This process usually takes a while though so you may not hear back until early next week. It would probably be quicker to open the backup and add the content again.

Thanks Joe, I will send it across if I may.
As it will happen again the next time the file is closed

Ian try this method:

  1. download “ilikeyoumore” (ilikeyoumore.sourceforge.net)
  2. make a copy of the Fpro corrupted file
  3. open ilikeyoumore and drag the copy you made onto his window
  4. restore type=LS3D and creator=WAY and save
  5. try to reopen the file with FPro.

For me it has worked.

Buona fortuna
