Thanks very much for your feedback. I updated the instructions at
Carousel in Freeway to include the black-
letter warning about layers. Very important, as you discovered.
As to the warning about more than one version of Prototype in the
page, that shouldn’t be possible, unless you had also applied either
Protaculous to the page or Observer to an element on the page.
Carousel uses the same version of Prototype and Scriptaculous as all
of the Softpress FX Actions (so no conflict is possible), and there
aren’t any other third-party Actions that use these libraries as far
as I know.
If you had applied one of Weaver’s MooTools-based Actions to the
page, then the whole thing would just silently fail. MooTools and
Prototype, while they forked from the same project a year or three
ago, basically hate each others’ guts, and refuse to get along. I
believe that Weaver has put some warnings into his Actions that
detect when any of the Proto/Scripty stuff is included in the page
and make appropriate throat-clearing noises.

ok…
I set up a new page within my own site to experiment with carousel.
I arranged as is described on the site www.walterdavisstudio.com
which i cannot recommend enough for anyone trying to do this sort
of thing (there is a paucity of tutorials online about this great
software for designers (c’mon peeps, you know you can!!).
However I also discovered that when i searched through all of the
sections of the page (i recommend looking at the LH site/page
panel) to see which aspects have an action (or not associated with
it) that there seemed to be a strange item (that had no name) that
was interfering with the other options that I had.
Honestly, I stopped… duplicated the page, and deleted
anything that i din’t know what it did… it was long winded…
dirty, and made me scream for a glass of arsenic/wine/beer… but
it worked…
I would suggest working with a completely blank page… follow the
instructions on the excellent site (honestly i love these guys, IT
is not meant to be opaque like it was when i was 10)… and it
finally worked…
I haven’t include it on the online version yet, but it works, just
gotta get the family (who i am making the site for - to ok it… it
looks cool and the gang!!), but i know for sure i will be back here
again for a little help…
thx delta… you rock!
