Newbie...

Hi Guys n Girls

Two questions hoping anyone can help me.

I’m using Freeway Pro 4 on a Mac running OSX 10.4.11
My rollovers dont appear to work in Safari. All other browsers fine. Safari no-way. ??

And - I want to link some music to my mouseover area on my landing page but have no idea how to do this?

This is prolly easy for you lot, me - duh!

Apple released a security update a while back that affected certain
kinds of web scripting. Unfortunately, this broke one once-standard
way of making rollovers.

Update your copy of Freeway Pro 4 to the latest version of 4 that the
Softpres site offers and your rollover problem will be cured.

What, a rollover-style trigger for audio? This is very hard to get
working well in HTML. The only reliable answer is to make this
particular element in Flash.

Hey Man cheers… You’re a star although. Rollovers in Safari fixed. Gonna have to look into the Flash thing. Barely used that although its part of my CS3. What about a straight music start up on landing page. No rollover involved? Is that easier in HTML?

Yes, but then you have to deal with the people leaving in a huff from the landing page when they can’t turn it off fast enough. Page > Page Actions > Background Sound. Make sure the audio is in WAV or MP3.

It’s my own experience (and preference) that people like to be in control of their browsing experience.

If you have a button on the page labeled “Play my Music”, then that’s fine. Similarly, if you want to add a button to “Launch Site and Cover Everything Else You Are Looking At On Your Giant Monitor”, then that’s fine too. But if you do either of those things without asking, as the first thing that happens when you come to a site, then I tend to run screaming and never come back. I don’t believe I am alone in this.

Absolutely. Point taken and many thanks for your input and feedback on this.
