I’ve set up a carousel and it doesn’t centre the images.
I have set up the bare page.
The black bars above and below indicate where the images should appear between in the setup which they do so in the preview in freeway.
However in the browsers they don’t align where they should do.
Any thoughts? There is nothing else on the page other than the carousel and the two black bars.
Where are you seeing a problem? The bars and the images are perfectly aligned here. At most I see a doubling of the border on the bottom and right. No centering issues. Is this limited to a particular browser or OS?

Hmmm. Bit of an odd one this and no doubt browser related.
I am viewing it in Aurora and safari (v5.06). Aurora is the best I can get to work with my powerpc system. The version of Safari is again the most up to date for my system.
I guess if it looks ok for yourself then maybe the rest of the world that comes across the page will be seeing it ok!
I recall Adobe had a part to their website where you could test out pages in various browser and system settings which was useful. I can’t find it now but used to find it useful in such instances.
I recall having that problem when I was using the Relative Page Layout action. Unfortunately, I don’t remember how I fixed it, but I know Walter helped me.
The page is pretty wide – there’s some object off to the right of the PageDiv that’s causing it to be 1250px wide. Try moving your panes to be above the page on the pasteboard, roughly centered on the main carousel element.

It doesn’t look right to me either using Safari 5.1.7 or FF 17.0.1 or Chrome 23 - offset to the right by a couple hundred px
The page is quite wide on purpose. I’ve checked again on the test and the main page and I can’t see anything else off to the right. Can you see a name for the object at all?
I can’t see anything in the element list in freeway. Everything thats named is accounted for.
The panes are already above the page as you describe on the pasteboard.
Just an addendum here, once the Carousel action is removed from the item then it sits where it should on the page.
Is it something to do with the action at all? Just a thought.
Can you send me a cut-down single-page version of this test document for dissection?

Just in case anyone comes across this thread and wonders if it was resolved then it has been.
The Carousel 2 Action was updated from version 0.1.1 to version 0.1.11 in March 2013 and whatever else was changed the action now seems to work for me on the same projects across all the browsers I have managed to test it in.
I am curious as to what the changes were to the carousel 2 action and whether the changes in themselves had any impact on the action now working, or was this merely coincidental and a side effect of installing a newer version of an action?
I guess the lesson maybe is to keep your actions up to date!
Many thanks for your time and energy Walter.
The only changes in that file at that time were to the technique that clones the border attributes from the panes to the parent box. I don’t see anything in there specific to centering. It’s a very focused change. Going back versions, the first thing I see that might have made a difference was in the changes between 0.1.8 and 0.1.9, made on February 4th of this year, where I switched between two (supposedly) equal ways to define a style in Prototype. Is there any chance you missed that change entirely?

I don’t have a record of what version of Carousel 2 I first installed or when I did so. I reckon it was maybe only this year that I began trying to use it which was when I had the issue with the shift in place on the page.
Much as I try to keep up to date with the ever changing updates on actions, which is not a complaint of course, I do sometimes maybe not update them as promptly as they are released.
I guess in the logical world of coding I’ll need to maybe just put this one down to a possibly unfathomable temporary error or glitch which the new version has sort of nudged out of the way!
Now that the action works I guess its time to move on and get to work using it where I can.
