What is it with some news sites on the web that insist on ads with animations that cover up or block part of the story content? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind ads, and being from the newsprint world, I wouldn’t have a paycheck if it wasn’t for ads. I have even clicked on ads that have content that interests me, but I don’t click on ads with excessive annoying animation, and I definitely don’t click on ads that block the story I’m trying to read. I have always believed that content is king, and a news website should not interfere, but instead enhance, that relationship between the reader and the story. Do these annoying web ads actually get results? Do people enjoy ads that cover up the content that brought them to that site in the first place? As my British friends would say, I find ads that block news content to be bloody rude!
