Some weeks ago I found the time to set up our company’s Facebook page. It’s currently available only in German language, but maybe worth getting “liked” nevertheless.
My personal point of view regarding social communities is cautious. I’m not a big fan of such social media monsters like Facebook and there are tons of legal issues to solve for businesses as well.
For example, in Germany, commercial sites need a legal notice section (sometimes mistakenly labelled as “imprint”, which is a wrong translation). Facebook has added support for this just recently. Until then, companies faced the risk of an expensive legal warning. Facebook just didn’t care.
So we already had a Facebook “fan page” years ago which has been deleted because of exactly those legal reasons.
In my mind, social media is a great marketing tool for the consumer market, but not for B2B, at least if you don’t follow a “get rich fast” scheme (like the dubious SEO and business development ads I stumble upon all the time on Facebook).
Anyway, what is your opinion about social media ?
