Just upgraded to 3.1.3 but it still has a problem with assigning custom patterns. I can supply the file that will reproduce the crash doing the following steps:
If I mess with the order it’s OK. Like if I don’t assign colours and do it later. The unfortunate thing is that even if you save everything before assign-crash, the pattern is forgotten.
BTW since this is my first post here: apart from a few small things, it’s an excellent vector editor. I tried many others before buying this one.
Same problem here, but it doesn’t happen every time.
My workaround is to draw the shape in a document (not in the Pattern Editor) and save in the Library.
To apply the pattern:
Draw a box.
Click the Color well icon in the Fill palette.
Click the well icon in the Pattern palette.
Drag the pattern from the Library to the well icon in the Pattern palette. The box (1) is filled with the pattern…
If you drag a pattern from the Library to the Color well, either Intaglio will crash, or an error dialogue box will appear; ‘Can’t complete this command incorrect value’.
Sometimes, however, the pattern appears in the drawn box without any problems.
It seems colouring the pattern is what causes the crash. So setting the colour outside of the pattern editor as IanB suggests presents a workaround. This bug has been - at least - in the last 2 versions.
