Yes, save as a PDF and use the actions (window > actions) click on the + sign on the bottom left hand corner of the actions window and a dialogue box will appear, click on the “graphic link to PDF”. The actions window will ask for the link to the page (from your file) and if you want it to display it: in place, full window or new window. Personally I always choose new window.

I am wondering if I can take a 4-5 word sentence and turn it into a PDF download like this page does.
At the top of your FW page where the icons are you’ll need to use the Graphic to draw a box in which you can add a cover of the image that you are wanting to link. With that box clicked when you go the actions window and after clicking the + sign in the dialogue box you will see the “graphic link to PDF”.
This is really useful - I use this all the time.

Thanks Elizabeth, Do I need to download the Graphic Link to PDF action? It is not showing up in the actions list.
When I add the action to the highlighted text - the text disappears.
Even easier is to click inside your run of text Insert>Action Item>Link to PDF - what this does is insert the Action into your run of text.
Then select the action and in the Action Interface you set the parameters. There is a file picker to choose the PDF and the Name box allows you to set the text that will be displayed as the link ie ‘Download my PDF file here’
Sorry, for the late reply. The action is not listed under the Insert>Action>Link to PDF nor under the Edit>Actions. So I guess this is in a later version - time to upgrade i think!
Create your PDF and get it onto your server - you can use an action like Upload Extra Resources Upload Extra Resources - ActionsForge - which allows you to upload to either your Resources folder or With HTML which puts it alongside the page you use it on.
You can also just use an FTP app like Transmit. Cyberduck etc.
Once the file is on the server you can create a hyperlink from your selected text using the External tab. Then use http from the Protocol dropdown and type in the rest of the link to your file. So if your pdf file called mypdf.pdf was next to your index page then your link would be http://www.mysite.com/mypdf.pdf
I’ve taken the easy option for now with a link from a PDF icon. But as you say now they are ‘up there’ the normal hyperlink option may be reviewed later.
