Photography sites

Good evening I have a friend that wants a photography website … Not to sell but to show. I want to learn how to do one… And one that she can change / add photos.
Any suggestions on how to potentially do this in either fw or another format.

Thanks!

J

Very minimal but all done with Freeway and Webyep. All photos and text can be edited in the browser, including those in the carousels. The exception is the big background slide show on the opening page.

An alternative, if you want a bigger choice of album styles, is to take a look at something like Jalbum http://jalbum.net. Your friend makes her choice of ‘Skin’, builds her album and she uploads to a folder on her server, You can incorporate them in the site in a iFrame This a Freeway site with the Jalbum/fotoplayer albums http://www.jcosmont.com. This one with Jalbum/simple viewer http://www.corneliedejong.nl Yes they need updating as they are both Flash - (but fall backs for iOS are available) however there are many non Flash skins available.

I would like Showcase to have a content management system incorporated as this would be a neat solution to these kind of sites as clearly photographers, artists etc will be keen to upload new work on a regular basis. Softpress? Any chance ? Or could Max Webyep it?

Hi,

There are many options but perhaps less where the client can easily update themselves.

If you wish to style in freeway but still allow for your client to update images I would suggest looking at Pulse cms. Their gallery is now quite superb, either as a slimbox or slider type. Re arrange once uploaded, add captions etc. and now very fast loading.
http://pulsecms.com/demo.php try the demo.

They could also have the option of a blog - picture of the week or whatever.

There’s a bit of a trend for full screen images but as a photographer I must say I’m not that keen and they can be quite slow to load.

I agree with Richard, an update-able showcase or Exhibeo would be nice.

Should have added that Pulse in their next release (2.5) and currently used on their demo will be using this: Magnific Popup: Responsive jQuery Lightbox Plugin

Here is a site, not photography but uses the current pulse gallery: http://www.holidaycottagebute.co.uk/farmhouse.php

Please don’t ask why the client insisted on having 83 !! images but at least they load quickly now.
