Does anyone know of a place where I could upload photos ,like a slideshow that has thumbnails at either top or bottom and then embded that into a freeway page?

The exhibeo feature like this doesn’t work great with backdraft as Caleb and I found out. Any help would be appreciated

Maybe I don’t understand the question, but why can’t you upload your photos into an unused/new directory on your website?

Or maybe you want something like Flickr or Picasa - I just don’t quite understand the question.

Wild guess? - It’s probably the same procedure to output an Exhibeo gallery to HTML - you need to then upload all the dependent objects to somewhere - and change the URLs in the code to point to their new online location.

Something like flickr or picasa, but I have never used those, so I am not sure if I could make my account private and have the pictures only seen on the website i am creating. I just want to upload them to make a slideshow and have the slideshow to be seen on the website, instead of just having ALL the photos on the website

The exhibeo feature for slideshow just doesn’t work well with backdraft, so I am looking for alternative solutions.

If you figure out the Flickr angle (on their server side), I have an Action called FlickrShow that is flexible and very powerful.

Only problem Im seeing is that, I don’t know the pictures to be on flickr so others can see them. I just want them on my account and on my website

OK. I think for any of the free gallery/photo sharing sites your images likely have to be shared publicly in order to use the direct links (some may not even allow direct linking due to bandwidth usage considerations).

It really probably is easier to just get Cyberduck or similar and upload your images to a hidden gallery on the site IMO. You could probably even find a program to set up to sync a folder in your Mac to a cloud storage folder as another alternative.

Spreading resources across different sites/hosts has other concerns though you may wish to consider as well.

If i could do it that way, that would be fantastic. How would you do a hidden gallery in freeway?

Is your website private? Restricted access?

Im saying on flickr, but i know there was a post on here on how to create your own gallery in freeway. When you click on one image, a larger image would show up in the center, how can i do that?

I know this is a crummy example, but when you click on the first image, i want the bigger one to show in middle…

ScriptyLightbox perhaps?

And you want it responsive? :-/ Only a couple of the Exhibeo themes are responsive unfortunately.

Upload Resources allows you to add items to your site’s directory. I just use Cyberduck because it’s simpler - and more direct. It’s the equivalent of going to your host/file manager and adding an extra directory and dropping the files into that directory. Freeway won’t erase it as long as you aren’t using a directory name FW needs to use. (Call it “xtraphotos” or something.

How would i link the files to the freeway document though? I can put them in another folder, but i want to have them all on one page, not a different folder.

Scriptylightbox is only for one picture in a certain area, i want it to be in the middle kinda thing

What I was talking about would be embedding a different type of viewer in a FW site. That would require the extra directory of photos to be manually uploaded.

The Exhibeo Showtime theme http://exhibeoapp.com/showtime/ is thumbnails with one large image and is responsive and works well in a responsive FW7 site - but I think you’re saying 1. It doesn’t play nice with Backdraft - and 2. You want to initially see thumbnails only - then pop up to a full size image in a lightbox?

Maybe you’re looking for the original Lightbox?

Or Slimbox?

There are endless alternate viewers out there. Some will use images from your Flickr or Picasa for instance - http://www.plusgallery.net

I’m still a bit lost trying to figure out what your vision for this is. An example site would be helpful.

I posted the example view posts back but maybe it didnt post:

What I want it to do is when you click a thumbnail, i want the picture in the middle to show up as the full one… similar to showtime, but through freeway

There are solutions to this problem, but they will require you to get out the oily rags and spanners and do some things that Freeway and the many Actions for it generally insulate away from you. This is not difficult, but it is aggressively technical and requires precision. If you feel like this is something you want to tackle, please let me know. I have a particular idea that may work for you here. But as I say, it’s not going to be clicky-draggy-easy. It’s going to be “download a programmer’s text editor, create some text files, upload them to your server, upload the images to your server, and paste this line of code into a Markup Item in Freeway.” You won’t be able to see anything in your layout except a little [ < H > ] icon. You’ll have to take it on faith that it works. And if it doesn’t, you’ll have to turn on error reporting and read a cryptic message from the nether world and try to make sense of why a semicolon is such a big deal.

Wasn’t there a post a while ago that had this exact idea? I don’t really remember

If this does not work, what is another way to get the images to work like a slideshow?

Here’s some I have done over the years:

http://scripty.walterdavisstudio.com/filtered-gallery/

http://scripty.walterdavisstudio.com/image_swap.html

http://scripty.walterdavisstudio.com/son_of_image_swap.html

The first of these is (roughly speaking) responsive, although the overlay is responsive only on page load — it does not respond to changing the browser dimension after you load. The others are not responsive, but showcase a way forward for you. Basically what they do is load all of the images at full size, then use CSS to scale the full-size image down to a thumbnail size, and use JavaScript to swap the images around the page so the large image is selected by clicking on the thumbnail.

I like those but want it to be responsive, as the site built, already is.

I guess an alternate solution is to just have them all thumbnails on the page and just use scriptylightbox and have them get bigger… maybe a slideshow is not possible
