PNG transparency fix and CSS Rollovers

Has anyone else found that the inbuilt PNG transparency for for Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6 doesn’t seem to work when the CSS Rollover action is applied to a group of pngs? Just had a nasty shock looking at one of my sites on IE 6…

Anyway to fix this - either manually or through Freeway?

I’m using Freeway Pro 5…

Yep, I’ve suffered the same shock with the same suspects.

Sorry, I don’t have a fix, only empathy. I just had to quickly change them into javascript rollovers.

No help I know. But I feel better knowing it’s not just me. (you start to take these things personally after a while

Yeah the trouble with this is that IE has no support for transparent
PNGs. Freeway uses a workaround that will allow for images within
tags to be transparent in IE6 but there is no fix for images
that are added using CSS (using the background CSS attribute). That
is, there is no way to do it, not we don’t have a fix for it.

The good news though is that IE6 is on the way out. Fewer and fewer
people are using it, if you use Google Analytics or something you will
be able to see the number of visitors using it.

You could help these figures out too by using Walter’s GetFirefox
Action:

Hope this helps.

The sooner ie6 dies the better… I hope that’s not perceived as the language of hate…
