Pound symbol not displaying correctly.

Hi

I am currently using Freeway Pro 5.3.1.
Recently I have noticed that when I upload a site the ‘£’ symbol does not display - It is substituted with ‘’.

It displays OK on the preview but not once uploaded?

You can view the page in question here
http://www.digitalhearinguk.co.uk/test_site/index.html

Appreciate any advice.

Check to see if your page is set to Automatic encoding in the Output
tab. If it is, set it to Unicode and see if that clears it up.

Hi Walter

Thanks for your reply.
I tried this but it doesn’t seem to have helped : (

I set up a new freeway document and it works OK. Copied and pasted it into the troublesome document and the fault reappears so the fault is definitely with this particular file.

Did you upload the new site and make sure that worked online?

Hi Joe

Yes, the revised site was uploaded and viewed online.

Hmm, strange. Was it on the same server? Could you try copying that
page (the whole page, just select it in the Site Panel and use Command-
c) into a new document and uploading that to see if you get the same
thing.

Could you send the file into support(a)softpress.com so we can take a
look please. I have seen something similar but we couldn’t repeat the
problem internally which led me to believe the problem was server side
but the characters you’re seeing are actually in the source code so
that would be strange.

Cheers,

Joe

Hi Joe

I’ll send the file as requested.

I tried uploading the file to 2 different servers having also thought it may have been an issue with the server, however, the £ symbol did not display on either.

I know it’s been over 2 years since the last post, but I recently had exactly the same problem and resolved it this way.

I completely removed the single line of code that contains the UTF-8 setting (Dreamweaver places it as default)

If that doesn’t work, try replacing UTF-8 with ISO-8859-1.
