It seems that Microsoft is being helpful. On this page, there are a few solutions to the age old problem of previewing sites in their browser.

The second option may be of interest - there are a load of virtual machine downloads for various browser/OS combinations. I’m in the process of setting up a Virtual Box implementation of IE8. The set up steps are easy, but they can take a long time to execute.

Well, all seems to work. They VMs are based on a trial version of the OS, but there is a handy screen wallpaper that advises you take a snapshot of the VM before using it (or keeping the original archive you downloaded).

Connected to my network via the Mac, and all seems as well as can be expected in Explorer.
