I just wanted to know if the websites created on my computer have my personal information attached to them? I’m sure the version of Freeway is included somewhere, but is my name and IP address? I’m nervous about creating sites that someone can get private information from and use it to compromise my system or identity.

Thanks for explaining an issuer I have no clue about.

Hi Jac,
The information contained within the final Freeway generated web site will only contain the information you’ve entered into the site. There will be references to Freeway in there (in the meta generator tag) which you can easily remove but there is no reference to your IP address, serial number or identity - unless you add these manually.
The Freeway file itself can contain your site FTP details (and you should be careful to eliminate these if you wish to share files with other Freeway users) and references to paths to resources on your hard drives but again won’t contain anything that should identify you publicly.

The only other thing to remember is that certain files that you can work with in Freeway (such as images, PDFs etc) can contain meta data that could identify you as the author. For example some digital cameras will automatically embed GPS data into images which, when used in Freeway as a passthrough image, could identify your location to users of your site.

I hope this helps.
Regards,
Tim.

Thanks, Tim. That helps a lot. I was a victim of a long drawn out identity theft, which when I inclined about how it happened was told, “oh, your information is available all over the place. They can get it from anywhere,” so I proceed with hyper-caution. But I am comforted by your response.
