[Pro] 2 Hyperlink Issues

Hi All -

My site is coming along but there are a couple glitches (so what’s new, right?)…

  1. On the page

http://sacredsilkart.com/scarfentry.html

I have a fixed header with items that scroll under it. I want the items to link to other pages, but when they get under the header div they cannot be clicked on. If I bring them forward they don’t go under the header properly. Any ideas?

  1. On the page

http://sacredsilkart.com/scarf1pbs.html

there is a rollover buy button. Unfortunately it activates when one rolls over any of the items near it.

If I drag it out of the parent it goes to the back and refuses to come forward (Why?). This has happened before, when one cannot bring an item to the front…

And this brings up the mystery of why some items get included in an action, eg a rollover, and others do not. in this case the action takes in many more items than one would suppose, whereas at other times the vital items are not included at all.

Thanks for any feedback on this…

David,

I’m not sure what to do about your rollover action, but in regards to the first problem you mentioned:

Could you create a transparent graphic item, linked to the correct page, and layer it above both the header image and the object to be clicked on? It would scroll with the real graphics, show the header image beneath it, and provide a link to the page that you want it linked to.

Interesting idea - I’ll try it.

Thanks!

Hmmm - Hi David,

saw that you followed my screencast about the fixed item stuff (Thanks for the comment :-).

Well - this is seems to be an unsolvable on the first view (without digging to deep in it).

Don’t forget:

HTML items are always squares. The curtain is a big monolith, fixed in the header helper that has exactly the height of the header-helper (526px).

This is covering the complete scene (as item above of the rest) and makes it therefor non clickable.

Here is the second view:

What you could do probably is to break the scene into two parts (and you already did as I can see from the images):

Part 1 has only the top of the curtain (horizontal part) as content and is laid above (Its height should be then reduced to 72px).

Part 2 (header-helper2) contains the left and right part of the curtain but is sent to the back. Create the header-helper2 using the same method as you saw in the screencast.

Cheers

Thomas

Caleb -

This works. Simple, elegant…
Thanks!
