Looks fine in FF 3.6.3 but in Safari 4.0.5 I am not getting it - if you select the text there seems to be some sort of shadow there but not the same as the FF version.
Your PNG has a color profile that’s changing the color of it in Safari (FF ignores profiles). For me the image is a lot lighter in Safari, the same color as the shadow basically.

The profile appears to be called “Dot gain 15%” according to the Finder.
