Does this calendar need to show events on days? Does the client want to maintain and update it? Any security or multiple-editor requirements? These answers will help us direct you further.

I bought this one, have tweakened it and translated all into Dutch. Works endlessly, year after year.
The price is a real bargain at $25,- It saves you tons of time. http://www.hotscripts.com/listing/event-calendar-php/

Actually, if you are subscribed to the forum as an email list (as I am) the
emails come across just fine. I think it’s only on the forum website they
are blocked?
Click on the My Account tab in the navigation, and down in the Forum Memberships block, check the Mail checkbox for each list you wish to receive as mail. This does not stop you from seeing the list on the Web, it just additionally subscribes you to the mailing list so you will receive each posting to that list as a threaded e-mail message.

PS: This is a semi-annual point of confusion here. A bit more than half of the members of this “forum” are subscribed by mail and do not use the Web except occasionally. Preserving the traditional mailing list experience (which has proven to be a powerful community-shaping force since 1997) was the primary design goal when I built this service in the early 00s.
The central core of this user-to-user support experience is a battle-hardened relic of the 90s – Gnu MailMan. So FreewayTalk is a mailing list first and foremost, managed by this well-engineered “neck-beard” Python application, and the Web view is simply another “member” subscribed to all of the lists. When you sign up for one of the “Web forums”, you are subscribing to a mailing list as a no-notifications member of that list. When you enable the Mail option in this system, you are simply toggling on the flag that tells MailMan to send you a copy of each message. Regardless which option you choose, when you use the Web form here to post a new message or reply to an existing thread, you are simply sending an e-mail message to the listserv, same as any other Mail-only member.
Your initial question maybe answered, but i thought i would add that i have been searching for a Calendar that i can add to a web site that is easy to maintain and can be located by anyone browsing the site very simply and i came across the following;-
The simplicity of this solution for me on this web site is that the calendar can be included within the site by the addition of a tab on the side, bottom or top of every browser page so you do not have to reserve a specific page space for it, but it does allow for this be be embedded into your site if you wish.
It also has a useful feature that allows the calendar to be accessed directly when the web site is viewed on a Smart phone
You can also configure the Calendar to accept Events from the web site users, the suggested Event is then sent to the Calendar owner for validation and acceptance or not, useful for a community site.
I have used Google Calendar in the past but if impatient web users were not able to quickly locate the page it was on they moved on.
This solution may not solve everyones problems but i found it a simple and effective answer to my issues, if you wish to see it in action on my test site use the link provided below
