[Pro] Adding Video

Hi everyone!
I have several .mov files I want to add to my site and can’t find any instructions on how to do that. I figure you’re going to tell me it’s not possible. And in that case what’s the best way to add video? What format should it be created in?

Thanks for the help

Hi,

I have very limited experience in doing this, but the most common method would appear to be upload your movies to YouTube, then use the YouTube action on your Freeway page to show your movies.

More experienced FW users may suggest a more suitable solution.

Hope this helps.

You should export your video from QuickTime as H.264/AAC MPEG-4 video. That’s the most universally decodable format. Then, you can drag the movie right from Finder into your Freeway page, and all the rest will be done for you.

If you want to use a player, I recommend (and wrote) the VideoJS and SublimePlayer Actions, which create HTML5 video stacks, compatible with the largest number of possible playback platforms. They both need the aforementioned MP4 file as a starting point, and they optionally take an Ogg/Vorbis and WebM format as additional versions. All of these can be made using the free Miro Encoder application. These Actions are both available at the ActionsForge.

Oh goodness, I don’t know what you said! I think that may be way over my head. I’ll try the YouTube thing and see how that works.

Thanks so much!

Just create/output your video as an mpeg and drag it from the Finder onto your FW page.
