Hi,

It seems that if a graphic item has dimensions of less than 25px wide or less than 15px high it looses the ability to add alt text in the inspector.

Does anyone else experience this and is there a reason for it?

I think the reason for this is that FW automatically creates alt text for you based on file names but it also uses small blank gif images to bolster certain aspects of the site construction.

By not adding them to smaller images, then your page(s) are not littered with meaningless Alt text which will mark you down SEO-wise.

It is straightforward enough to add Alt text to small images that you may consider to be semantically valuable using the Item>Extended feature.

Select your image Item>Extended and for the tag create a new Name/Value pair of

is alt text added automatically to all graphic items?

Is there a way to shut off the alt text box from being checked by default or I have to do myself?

I dont think there any switches you can flick. You have to do it on a case by case basis.

but indeed… manually and case by case. Perhaps there’s a script that can
override basic setting?
